In this most precarious time, emotions are running the gamut, as we navigate our way back to our offices – or not. Just as we mastered the virtual meeting, new questions and unspoken concerns are simmering directly below our cordial conversations.
What's happening outside our office is acutely being felt by each employee inside. There is no leaving fear and confusion at the door. In most cases, there is no door. You, Ms./Mr. Leader cannot ignore it, lock it up or attempt to pick up where you left off before March 15. This elephant is not going anywhere until you address it!
Employees are craving a way back to connection, to civility, while desperately needing and wanting the courage, confidence, and most importantly, agility to embrace and thrive during this uncertainty and unrest.

…play lifts stress from us. It refreshes us and recharges us. It restores optimism. It changes our perspective, stimulating creativity. It renews our ability to accomplish the work of the world. By anyone's reckoning, those are remarkably worthy achievements.
-Psychology Today Hara Estroff Marano, Editor-at-Large
For the past two months, we have been virtually gathering people and teams together with Improv Exercises/Games. That’s right – play – a different kind of play. This is not performance improv. This is play with a purpose. It is about creating a safe and trusting environment where, people, in a light and spontaneous way, reveal small parts of themselves, their beliefs, their conditions, which then evoke empathy and connection.
Today and for a long time to come, we must be gentle with ourselves and each other. When people get to connect just one layer below their fear or rage the results are clear and consistent:
Compassion for self and others
Deeper understanding/acceptance of other’s beliefs (doesn’t mean agreement)
Renewed Bonding
Agility - what's next? And, next?
Productivity and Creativity shoot up
Courage! So much is out of our control. We become resourceful..
